BMW's Figure pilot makes factory robotics the humanoid scoreboard

Figure's BMW Spartanburg run put hard numbers on humanoid line work: hours, parts, accuracy, and vehicle throughput.

Early May robotics talk kept circling BMW Spartanburg as the clearest factory proof point for humanoids. Figure 02's reported shift work, part placement precision, and support for tens of thousands of vehicles gave buyers something rarer than a keynote: customer-confirmed production metrics.

## Why it matters Industrial buyers purchase uptime. A robot that only walks in a lab cannot clear a safety review. A robot that loads fixtures for weld cells can.

## Action If you sell robotics, publish failure modes beside success metrics. If you buy, demand the same KPIs BMW-style pilots now set: cycle time, accuracy, supervised hours, and integration path into existing plant software. The scoreboard moved from embodiment to throughput.
